Move means more and better collaboration

The Rialto Network is on the move in many more ways than one. The Network was set up as a Community Development Project in 1997. Supported initially by the Rialto Development Association (RDA) its remit was to help different sections and interests in Rialto to network and to embark on initiatives for the broader community. Over the years the Network has supported work in Fatima Mansions, Dolphin House and across the Rialto community. It has been active in initiatives for the elderly, homeless, young people and the new communities, community policing and of course this very newsletter. We have been at the heart of many community initiatives, campaigns and actions.

Unfortunately the government closed down all the Community Development Projects, of which the Network was one, in recent times and joined them with the Local Partnership Companies. Consequently the Network staff have largely been transferred to the Canal Communities Partnership. Although we are very sad to see the loss of the CDPs we are happy that the Network staff will remain based in Rialto. From now on our Manager, Ann Swords, will be based part-time in Dolphin House and will be managing the staff of Dolphin House Alliance. The other staff of the network will be based in a portion of the refurbished St. Andrew’s Community Centre. Under the Canals Partnership the Network staff will be dedicated to working both in Dolphin House and in the broader Rialto.

Our hope is that the collaboration that always existed between the Network and the RDA will grow stronger and lead to a better and more cohesive service to the broader Rialto community.
